Robin Wilson

Robin Wilson’s appearance in “Knoxville:  Summer of 1915” marks her Hopkins Symphony Orchestra debut but her fourth performance under the baton of Jed Gaylin. She is a frequent guest artist with Mr. Gaylin and the Bay-Atlantic Symphony in New Jersey, as well as with St. Peter’s Orchestra by the Sea and with Ocean City Pops. Her work with these orchestras has produced three CD’s.

A New Jersey native, Ms. Wilson studied with Dr. Eugene Thamon Simpson. She attended Westminster Choir College and earned a B.A. in Music Education, Voice from Rowan University. She completed her graduate studies at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia and the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria.

Neil Jones of the Asbury Park Press has called Ms. Wilson “no ordinary soprano.” Michael Redmond of the Newark Star Ledger wrote, “…an unusually beautiful instrument intelligently used….” Ms. Wilson has performed on some of the world’s greatest stages, including Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Opera. Her operatic roles include Amelia in “Un Ballo in Maschera”, Fiordiligi in “Cosi Fan Tutte” and Bess in “Porgy and Bess”. Her performances of the Verdi Requiem (nine and counting) have thrilled audiences around the world. At the invitation of the General Board of Global Ministries, Ms. Wilson recently recorded a new work for soprano, baritone, and strings called “The Tindley Suite” based on the spirituals of Philadelphia composer Charles Albert Tindley. The CD is scheduled for release this year.

Ms. Wilson’s awards range from National Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions to winner of the Meistersinger vocal competition in Graz, Austria.
