Carla DelVillaggio

Soprano Carla DelVillaggio is making her debut as a soloist with the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra. She has become a favorite of many opera companies in a wide variety of challenging roles, from Lalume in Kismet and Lucy Brown in The Three Penny Opera to Giulietta and Antonia in Les Contes D’Hoffman, Nedda in I Pagliacci, Kathie in The Student Prince, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, and Musetta in La Boheme among many others. She has sung with the Orlando Opera Company, Tri-Cities Opera Company, Baltimore Opera, Summer Opera Theatre Company (D.C.), Annapolis Opera, and Opera Camerata of Washington.

In addition to her operatic credits, Ms. DelVillaggio is an active concert and oratorio soloist. She is frequently heard in the Baltimore-Washington area in concerts of operatic excerpts, as well as many popular oratorio works.

This past summer, Ms. DelVillaggio was invited by internationally-known soprano Diane Soviero and Bernard Uzan, Director of L’Opera de Montreal, to be among the first select group of singers to participate in the Florida Grand Opera’s newest program: the Advanced Role Preparation Studio. Last season, Ms. DelVillaggio was heard as Frasquita in the Annapolis Opera’s production of Carmen. Recently she covered the role of Nedda in Baltimore Opera’s production of I Pagliacci. On December 20th, she will present her 2nd Annual recital of Holiday favorites as part of the Charlestown Recital Series.
