Xiao-po Fei
Violinist Xiao-po Fei was born in Shanghai, China, where he received his musical training at the Shanghai Conservatory. Upon coming to the United States at the age of sixteen, he studied with such renowned musicians as Steven Staryk and Dorothy DeLay. Currently studying with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s concertmaster Herbert Greenberg, he is finishing his undergraduate education at the Peabody Conservatory.
Mr. Fei has been the winner of the All-China Violin Competition, the Marbury Violin Competition at Peabody, the Ladies Musical Club Competition and the Northwest Young Artist Competition in Seattle.
As a full scholarship recipient in the Pacific and Aspen Music Festivals, Mr. Fei has participated in master classses with Pinchas Zuckerman, Chao-Liang Lin, and the Tokyo String Quartet.
Also an active chamber and orchestral musician, he has had the opportunity to work with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in many of their concert events. In November 1997, he went on tour with the BSO to Japan.
Mr. Fei has served as concertmaster of the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra for the past three seasons.
