Tom Shields
Tom Shields has played in the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra since 1990 and has been principal trumpet since the mid-90’s. He also plays with the Homewood Brass Consort, a quintet of HSO musicians. Beyond the HSO, he has played for musical theater productions, weddings, and church services, especially at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Baltimore. He has studied with Wayne Cameron, freelance professional trumpeter and music director of the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Symphony Orchestra. Before the HSO, Mr. Shields played in the symphony orchestras at UMBC, Towson State University, Rochester (Michigan), and the University of Chicago. While in Chicago he studied with Ross Beacraft.
