Christopher Trakas

Christopher Trakas won the 1983 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and as a result made his highly successful New York debut. Mr. Trakas has performed with such distinguished colleagues as Paula Robison, David Jolley, Bruno Canino and others. As a winner of the 1983 Washington International Competition for Singers, he made his Washington debut in the Phillips Collection Recital Series. Mr. Trakas has also won awards in the 1982 International American Music Competition and most recently was the recipient of the August Riemann Memorial Award from the Liederkranz Foundation.

He has appeared in numerous operatic productions as a member of the Texas Opera Theater, including the world premiere of Mollicone’s Starbird at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Mr. Trakas was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and grew up in Florida. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree studying Organ and Music History from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg and received a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Houston. Mr. Trakas is currently studying in New York City with Marlena Malas.
