French pianist Christie Julien has been invited by Leonard Slatkin to perform the Bartok Concerto No. 3 with the National Symphony Orchestra in the Kennedy Center in February of 2002 and she will precede this with a performance of the concerto with the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra and its Music Director Jed Gaylin in October of 2001 at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Ms. Julien made her first solo public appearance on national television in France at age twelve. At age thirteen, she made her solo debut with the Garde Republicaine Orchestra and she won First Prize in the Royaumel de la Musique. At the Paris Conservatory she won First Prize in piano and chamber music by a unanimous vote. At age fifteen, she performed in the Philharmonic Hall in Berlin after winning the Steinway Competition in France, and she was awarded the Yamaha Piano Scholarship. At the invitation of Jacques Chirac, she performed a recital at the Hotel de Ville in Paris.

Ms. Julien has appeared at festivals in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany. She has also performed in the United States at Santa Fe, La Jolla, the Great Lakes, and Ravinia. After study with the Pro Quartet, Ms. Julien performed at the Festival de Mans with cellist Paul Katz. In Washington, D.C., she has been a soloist at the French and Polish embassies. Ms. Julien has toured as a soloist in China, Europe, and the U.S., and she has performed with musicians from the European Mozart Foundation in Venice, Rome, Vienna, Paris, Berlin, and Brussels.

Ms. Julien is a student of Leon Fleisher in the Artist Diploma program at the Peabody Conservatory.
