Vladimir Lande has directed the Hopkins Symphony Chamber Orchestra and chamber program since 2005. He is Music Director of COSMIC (Chamber Orchestra of Southern Maryland, in Concert), the Washington (DC) Soloists Chamber Orchestra, and Maryland Youth Orchestra. He is a guest conductor of the National Gallery Orchestra in Washington DC and Principal Guest Conductor of the St. Petersburg (Russia) Symphony Orchestra. He regularly conducts the Donetsk Ballet Company in Europe and the US. Since 1996, he has been Principal Guest Conductor of the Bachanalia Festival Orchestra in New York.

In the summer of 2004, Mr. Lande was invited to conduct the opening concert of the internationally renowned White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia, including a performance in Grand Philharmonic Hall. In 2006, he made his conducting debut with the Baltimore Opera Orchestra, and, in 2007, at the Ravello Festival in Italy. In 2008, he debuted conducting the Tulsa (Oklahoma) Symphony Orchestra, and he led the National Gallery Chamber Orchestra on a US tour. In 2008-09, he conducted the Donetsk Ballet in the US and Europe, and he recorded and conducted performances with the St. Petersburg Symphony. In 2009-10, he conducted the St. Petersburg Symphony on a European tour and served as Music Director of the American Contemporary Music Festival (Washington DC). Recent tours have taken him throughout the US and to New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Russia, and the United Kingdom, including a performance in the Cathedral of St. Martin in the Fields, London.

In 2010-11, Mr. Lande conducts the Donetsk Ballet, makes his debut conducting the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and leads the St. Petersburg Symphony in several recording projects, followed by a tour of the US, Mexico, and South America.

Mr. Lande also maintains a successful solo and chamber music career as an oboist. He is a member of the renowned Poulenc Trio, which premiered Gaetano Panariello’s triple concerto Omaggio all’opera buffa with the HSO in 2008, repeated with Jed Gaylin and the Bay-Atlantic Symphony (NJ) in 2009.

Mr. Lande has completed five recordings conducting the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, including a critically acclaimed 2008 CD with saxophonist Gary Louie (Kleos) and a 2009 CD of violin concerti with recent HSO soloist Jose Miguel Cueto (Marquis). 2009 also brought a Marquis CD of performances by the Poulenc Trio. Five more recordings will be released soon, one featuring upcoming HSO piano soloist Marika Bournaki.
